“Where Voices Meet” is a powerful celebration of music that has shaped, and continues to shape, the American spirit. Included are Appalachian folk tunes, shape-note hymns, blues, gospel, and spirituals. This program honors the diverse traditions that rise from our shared roots and echo with stories of resilience, hope, and joy.
The CRC with 100-plus voices and the smaller auditioned Chamber Singers will perform music by Aaron Copland, Alice Parker, Moses Hogan, Rosephanye Powell, Ysaye Barnwell, Keith Hampton, Stacey Gibbs, Mac Wilberg, and more. Through dynamic choral works and soulful solos, the program explores the ways music can bridge differences, build community, and kindle the sense of belonging we all seek.
CRC Spring concerts, led by Artistic Director Alexis Ward and Assistant Director Stephanie LaMotte, will be performed at the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown. Audiences can choose to experience the CRC’s formal concerts and/or attend the final dress rehearsal, where a full run-through of the concert unfolds as detailed finishing touches occur to bring voices and instruments together.
Concerts will be held on Friday, April 17th at 7:30 pm and on Saturday, April 18th at 4:00 pm. The Open Dress Rehearsal is Wednesday, April 15th at 7:30 pm. Purchase tickets online.
“Where Voices Meet” is the second set of concerts in the CRC 2025-2026 “Kindred” season, uniting the holiday and spring concerts in story and song. “Kindred” invites audiences on a journey through the ties that bind us across time, across cultures, and across generations – to uncover the shared humanity at the heart of song. Many of the songs from “Where Voices Meet” will be performed in Ireland, this March, when over sixty CRC members and travel partners join in CRC’s 2026 International Tour. Our singers will perform in historic cathedrals, collaborate with Irish choirs, and share this uniquely American repertoire at the Fingal International Festival of Voices. Whether sung on the Eastern Shore of Maryland or across the Atlantic, these songs carry with them a message of peace, belonging, and the universal language of music – reminding us that wherever voices meet, hearts are never far behind.
