The Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra will host a Competition Preview Evening on Saturday, March 14 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Academy Art Museum as part of the events surrounding the Elizabeth Loker International Concerto Competition.

Hosted by the MSO Board of Directors, the gathering offers an opportunity for audiences and members of the community to meet the three finalists selected for the competition’s final round. During the evening, each finalist will present a short solo recital, providing an informal preview of the musicians who will perform with the full orchestra the following afternoon. “This intimate evening is not to be missed,” says MSO Board of Directors Chair Jeffrey Parker.

This year’s finalists include violinist Sophia Werner of New York City, pianist Brielle Perez of New York City, and violinist Mio Imai of Philadelphia. Each advanced through multiple preliminary rounds of adjudicated submissions from an international pool of applicants and represents a new generation of exceptional young instrumental talent.

The competition concludes on Sunday, March 15 at 3:00 PM at the Todd Performing Arts Center, where the finalists will perform complete concertos with the full Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra in a concert and adjudicated competition.

The Elizabeth Loker International Concerto Competition has grown significantly in recent years, attracting young musicians from across the United States and around the world. Unlike most competitions for young instrumentalists, which are typically performed with piano accompaniment, this event provides finalists the opportunity to perform with a professional symphony orchestra.
