The Board of Directors of Delmarva Community Services Inc. has appointed Michelle Nichols as the organization’s permanent executive director, effective immediately.
Nichols, who has been serving in an interim leadership capacity, was selected by the board to guide the multiprogram human services agency through its next chapter of growth and community service.
Nichols has served Delmarva Community Services since 2005. Before stepping into the interim executive role, she served as chief operating officer, where she established a record of operational leadership, financial management and collaboration.
“Michelle has demonstrated outstanding stability, vision, and momentum during this transitional period,” said Donnie Webb, chair of the Delmarva Community Services Board of Directors. “Her deep commitment to our mission and her extensive experience guiding our diverse programs make her the ideal leader to move the agency forward. The board has full confidence in her ability to expand our community partnerships and strengthen our services.”
As executive director, Nichols will oversee the agency’s daily operations and strategic planning. Its programs include transportation, aging and disability services, housing and homelessness support, workforce development and family services.
“I am deeply honored by the board’s confidence in my leadership and incredibly excited to step into this role permanently,” Nichols said. “Having spent over two decades with DCS, I know firsthand the dedication of our staff and the vital importance of the services we provide to our neighbors across the Mid-Shore.
“I look forward to working closely with our entire DCS leadership team as we navigate these fiscally challenging times together, ensuring we remain a steady, reliable resource for our community while developing innovative strategies that position us to continue to elevate, empower and strengthen the economic future of the families we serve.”
